Our instructors are all different, with diverse lives, styles and backgrounds. But what is consistent is that all of them are kind, committed and inspirational. Also, we are all passionate about the martial arts and will go above and beyond to get you where you want to be. The martial arts instruction you receive from us is respectful and of high quality.

Sensei Brennan Strimple

Head Instructor – Academy Owner

 Sensei Brennan both teaches and studies a variety of martial arts. His first passion was Karate, he is a third degree black belt in Isshin Ryu as well as a black belt in Kyokushin. Additionally, he is a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu, and is praised for his strategy and attention to detail. His grappling also extends to throwing arts such as Judo and Aikido. Sensei Brennan teaches all our kids programs, kids love his fun yet disciplined and challenging classes!

What is Sensei Brennan’s favorite part of teaching? Seeing students grow, learn new skills, and start thinking for themselves.

Sensei Leigh Strimple

Head Instructor – Academy Owner

Sensei Leigh is passionate about the martial arts, striking in particular. She loves helping people get started on their martial arts journey, she is the one who will consult with you and help get you started. She is a third degree black belt in Karate and a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu.

Sensei Leigh most enjoys getting hit by her students, meaning that they have advanced to the point of landing their attacks! Nevertheless, she enjoys landing kicks as well!

Coach Chris Smith

Instructor

Coach Chris Smith is the instructor for our Basic Jiu Jitsu classes. He’s the first instructor you’ll have, and he will get you learning the basics and ready for the next challenge.

Despite being creative and aggressive, he also has an interest in injury prevention and long term athletic health.

Sensei Jason Eggleston

Head Instructor – BJJ

Dedicated, passionate, as well as full of energy, Sensei Jason is our head Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor. He is a black belt in Jiu Jitsu and a part of Team Balance. He is also a retired army combative instructor.

Sensei Jason wants to see all of his students advance in Jiu Jitsu and meet their goals.

Coach Jarrett McBride

Instructor – Kickboxing

Coach Jarrett McBride is our kickboxing / striking 101 instructor. He will get you punching, kicking, and dodging in this highly energetic class! With his experience in MMA, this class is ideal for those looking to persue the mixed martial arts.

Coach Jarrett is passionate about teaching students with kindness while still pushing them to their highest potential.

Sensei Casey Jordan

Head Instructor – Judo

Sensei Casey Jordan is the owner of Roc Judo, which we are proud to offer as a part of Rochester Phoenix Martial Arts. This allows you to train and advance in Judo while also training in our other programs.

Sensei Casey has a special interest in competitive Judo and enjoys getting students ready to compete.

Cat San

Head Cat

Cat San is the official cat of RPMA. He is hypoallergenic, so even people with allergies can chill with him. He is happy to accept head scratches, but is content to just stare at you as well. Furthermore, chicken is always accepted.

Cat San enjoys any post workout stretch, and finds this to be the ideal time to sit in any available laps.
